One Lucky Non-Profit Will Be Awarded a $15,000 IMPACT Grant
With over 20 applications a team of Back Mountain community organizers and Fidelity Bankers voted to narrow it down to five finalists. All of the proposals were worthy, and choosing was difficult. We hope that you will participate in helping us determine the winner by encouraging your friends, family and fans to participate in the voting during the month. Voting will take place by visiting the Back Mountain Office from March 18th through April 19th. You can vote for your favorite finalist daily.
Not sure who to vote for?
See below for some information on how each organization can help improve the Back Mountain Community.
Back Mountain Regional Fire & EMS Back Mountain Regional Fire & EMS will use IMPACT funds to offset the recruitment and retention costs associated with its service learning program. Through this initiative, college students gain valuable work experience relevant to their course of study while providing an important service to the community. This funding will support the purchase of personal and protective equipment, turnout gear (personal protective gear fit to size), and fire and EMS advanced training.
Back Mountain Memorial Library Renovations are underway to create a new Multipurpose Room at the Back Mountain Memorial Library, and IMPACT funds will be used to furnish the space. Featuring study tables and chairs, seating, a flat screen television, computer, and projector for presentations, the Multipurpose Room will provide an accessible work and meeting space for people of all ages to use and enjoy.
Back Mountain Little League Once rivals, Back Mountain Little League recently merged with Bob Horlacher Little League, creating an opportunity to recondition playing fields in Beaumont. IMPACT funds will be used to add dirt to the infields, repair fences and dugouts, purchase a shed, and plant grass. The reconditioned fields will be available to others in the community as well.
Dallas School District The Dallas School District will use IMPACT funds to provide additional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and the community. The project includes creating a summer STEM camp for students featuring design challenges, maker space activities, coding, and application of the technological design process. To increase community awareness of STEM applications and technology skills, community training sessions will also be developed.
Lake-Lehman School District Promoting financial literacy is an important initiative in the Lake-Lehman School District. IMPACT funds will be used to support the technology, resources, and equipment associated with Everfi, an online financial content program.
