What to Do If You Think You’ve Been Scammed.

If you think you’ve been scammed, acting quickly can help limit further loss and protect your accounts and personal information. Whether you shared sensitive information, sent money, clicked a suspicious link, or noticed an unfamiliar transaction, there are steps you can take to respond.

If the scam involves a Fidelity Bank account, contact Fidelity Bank as soon as possible at 1-800-388-4380 and report the incident.

Fidelity Bank’s Security Center also provides guidance for suspected fraud, phishing, identity theft, and lost or stolen cards.  This guide explains what to do after a suspected scam, how to protect your accounts, when to contact your bank, and where to report the incident.

If you haven’t sent money yet

  1. Stop communicating with the scammer. Don’t respond or continue the conversation.
  2. Don’t click additional links
  3. Don’t provide passwords or verification codes
  4. Independently contact the organization via a trusted phone number or official website.

If you already sent money

  1. Contact your bank immediately

  2. Tell them exactly what happened and when.

Depending on the payment method, the available recovery options can differ.

The sooner a fraudulent transaction is reported, the more quickly the institution can determine what steps may be available.
