Watch Out for Package Delivery Scams

These days, it seems like we’re always waiting for a package to be delivered—and scammers know that.

Watch Out for Package Delivery Scams

Beware of Unsolicited Messages

Be cautious of unexpected texts, phone calls, emails, or door tags claiming issues with your shipment. Scammers often create convincing messages, complete with legitimate logos, urging you to click a link or call a specified number. These scam messages can look real. They might even include a legitimate delivery company’s logo.

Avoid Clicking or Calling

Never click on links or call numbers provided in unsolicited messages. Clicking could expose your device to malware while calling might lead to sharing sensitive information like credit card details or your social security number.

What to Do If You Receive a Suspicious Message

If you’re expecting a package, go to the carrier’s website directly, or check with the retailer to see the status of your order. If there is an issue, contact the company directly, and not through the information in the text or email.

By staying informed and adopting a cautious approach, you can navigate the online shopping season with confidence and minimize the risk of falling victim to package delivery scams.
